Final — Capitals 3, Rangers 1

Alexis Lafrenière opened on the power play at 10:17 of the first — J.T. Miller feed, slot wrister past Logan Thompson — and for a stretch it looked like New York's four-game win streak would travel. Then the second period flipped the building.

Timothy Liljegren, still hunting his first Washington goal after the March trade from San Jose, hammered a one-timer from the left point through a screen at 6:08. Tie game. Two minutes later Igor Shesterkin scrambled back to his crease, jammed his right leg into the post, and left without putting weight on it. Dylan Garand took over.

Jenner's first as a Cap

Boone Jenner made it count. With 2:22 left in the second he picked off Cole Beaudoin's clear, found the slot, and beat Garand clean — his first goal since signing the four-year deal in July. "It stems from the forecheck," Jenner said afterward. "Vinny (Desharnais) does a great job staying in there… I'm able to get a bounce off it and bury one."

New York pushed in the third (7–5 shots) and never got the equalizer. Tom Wilson iced it into the empty net with one second on the clock. Thompson finished with 21 saves. Caps are 3-1-0 and 3-0-0 against Metro clubs; Capital One Arena is 13-1-2 in the last 16 dating to last season.
