Final — Indianapolis 30, Washington 13

The Indianapolis Colts beat the Washington Commanders 30-13 on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the NFL London Game (ESPN). Washington is 1-3; Indianapolis is 2-2.

How it broke

Washington jumped ahead 6-0 in the first quarter on Drew Stevens field goals from 31 and 29 yards. The first scoring chance followed Odafe Oweh's strip-sack of Daniel Jones — Oweh recovered at the IND 21. Marcus Mariota was efficient early (3-of-4, 46 yards) before leaving injured on a sack near the goal line. Rookie Athan Kaliakmanis finished (15-of-33, 186 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT).

Indianapolis answered with two Jonathan Taylor rushing touchdowns (both 5 yards), three Spencer Shrader field goals (48, 52, 44), and a Daniel Jones 4-yard rushing score. Washington's only touchdown was Kaliakmanis to Treylon Burks for 47 yards in the third.

Sport DMV read

Out-gaining Indianapolis did not matter once the red zone stayed empty and the penalty count hit double digits. The early takeaway script was real — the finish was not. Next week at home has to be cleaner on third down and near the goal line.
