Final / OT — Commanders 27, Giants 27
Dan Quinn ripped the headset off as the clock hit zero at the Giants 24. No spike. No field-goal try. A 27-27 overtime tie at Northwest Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 11, and Washington walks out 1-3-1 while New York sits 3-1-1 (ESPN / AP).
Jayden Daniels was the story for three hours and the villain of the last twelve seconds. Back from the Week 2 non-throwing elbow dislocation — brace on the left arm — he finished 17-of-25 for 199 yards, zero interceptions, and 9 carries for 103 yards with rushing scores of 38 and 26. Jacory Croskey-Merritt opened the afternoon with a 33-yard touchdown burst on Washington's first drive. The Burgundy & gold led 27-13 after Daniels' second scramble TD and a two-point pass to Terry McLaurin.
Then Jameis Winston took the building. 326 yards, three touchdowns — Isaiah Likely twice (3 and 17) and Malik Nabers (17) with 1:43 left in regulation to knot it. Washington's rush defense had numbers all day (202 yards) and still could not get off the field when Winston found Likely and Nabers in rhythm.
Overtime was a trade of disasters. Dominic Zvada missed a 46-yarder wide left. Washington punted after a delay. New York marched into field-goal range again until Daron Payne stripped Cam Skattebo and Shy Tuttle recovered at the WAS 23 with 2:00 left. Daniels moved the sticks to the Giants 24 — McLaurin for 16, a 16-yard scramble, Treylon Burks for 13 — then, with 0:12 and no timeouts, he held the ball and went down for no gain. The spike never happened. Quinn's headset hit the sideline.
Washington out-rushed New York 202-103 and never turned it over. The Giants still owned the clock (39:25) and the first-down column (29-20). Red zone: Commanders 0-for-1, Giants 3-for-3. Nine Washington penalties for 69 yards kept drives alive for Winston.
Monday night in San Francisco is next — Commanders at 49ers, Oct. 19, 8:15 p.m. ET. The return of Daniels was real. The finish was a tie that will feel like a loss in Ashburn until that trip.
