Week 3 Friday — Mariota starts vs Seahawks; Daniels still out

Sunday — Seahawks at Commanders

The Washington Commanders host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Sep. 27, kickoff 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX at Northwest Stadium (home opener).

The quarterback picture is locked for Week 3: Jayden Daniels (left elbow) is out; Marcus Mariota is the starter. No invented return timeline or imaging details beyond what the club has confirmed.

Thursday’s practice snapshot (SI / club report) showed a thin room around Mariota. Did not practice for a second straight day for several: Daniels, Sam Cosmi (concussion/throat), Nick Cross (illness), Frankie Luvu (groin), Chig Okonkwo (hamstring). Javon Kinlaw returned limited after a Wednesday DNP (back/shoulder), with Armstrong, Butler, Chenal, Lane, and Omenihu among other limited players. Full participants included Brandon Coleman, Kaytron Allen, Jeremy Reaves, Tyler Owens, and Drew Stevens (per Thursday report notes).

Friday practice sets official game-status designations. Sport DMV will not invent the inactive list.

Sport DMV read

Home opener week just got thinner on the injury report — Mariota is the plan, and Friday’s designations decide how much help he has up front and on defense. Watch Cosmi, Cross, Luvu, and Okonkwo for OUT/Doubtful tags; those four change the game script more than any invented Daniels timeline would.
