Game of the week held up

Fairfax’s headline night was Oakton at Westfield, and the Cougars left Chantilly still perfect. Oakton won 35-30 — their first regular-season win over the Bulldogs since 2008, per DC News Now — and sits 7-0. Westfield fell to 5-2.

The rest of the county board (InsideNoVa) had blowouts and one-score finishes alike: Hayfield 46, Annandale 0; South Lakes 41, Chantilly 6; James Madison 28, Centreville 21; West Potomac 10, Lake Braddock 3; Mt. Vernon 47, Robinson 6; Falls Church 42, Edison 27; Washington-Liberty 45, Herndon 20. Alexandria City edged Fairfax High 14-7.

Oakton’s next conference stop is Chantilly on Friday; Westfield draws Centreville. Confirm kicks on the school athletic boards and the Fairfax HS desk.
