Citron and Iriafen join Team USA for FIBA World Cup

USA Basketball added Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen of the Washington Mystics to the 2026 USA Women’s National Team for the FIBA Women’s World Cup, the federation announced this week (local NBC4 coverage Monday).

They replace Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson, unavailable for health reasons per USA Basketball. Citron — with Washington since 2025 — makes her senior national-team debut. Iriafen, drafted by the Mystics in 2025, previously appeared for USA at the World Cup Qualifying Tournament in San Juan.

Pool play opens Friday against China in Berlin, then Italy (Sunday) and Czechia (Monday). Sport DMV is not inventing minutes or roles. The Mystics are on the FIBA break after the west trip; confirm the next WNBA tip on the club schedule. The Mystics page is the hub.
