WCAC weekend — Gonzaga at Good Counsel, then DeMatha at St. John’s

Capital Division stretch run

The WCAC football weekend is stacked. Gonzaga at Good Counsel, Friday 7 p.m. in Olney — then DeMatha at St. John’s on Saturday with Capital Division first place on Military Road.

Gonzaga (Capital Division 1-0, overall 6-1 per Prep Redzone) visits a Good Counsel side that has dropped its first two Capital games — 35-0 at DeMatha on Oct. 9 and 38-7 at home to St. John’s on Oct. 16 (rain delay into near-midnight in Olney). The Falcons’ last home Friday of the regular season is the Great American Rivalry Series installment against the Eagles.

St. John’s answered Good Counsel last week and now hosts top-ranked DeMatha. Metro Sports Page frames it as Capital Division first place on the line after both programs beat top-20 WCAC opponents. DeMatha has beaten St. John’s five straight (regular season and playoffs) dating to 2022, per Prep Redzone — that streak is the backdrop, not a prediction.

Also on the WCAC card: Bishop Ireton at St. Mary’s Ryken on Friday; St. Paul VI at Archbishop Carroll on Saturday. Confirm kick times and streams on the school athletic boards before you drive.

The High School hub is the desk.
