Camp week on the calendar
The Washington Wizards are in the final stretch before 2026-27 training camp — a quiet week on the court that still matters for how the DMV sees this roster.
NBA.com’s Sep. 22 season preview is out. Last season finished 17-65 without the playoffs. The outlook names veterans Trae Young, Anthony Davis, Khris Middleton, and Deandre Ayton, and it flags a young core of Alex Sarr, AJ Dybantsa, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, Bilal Coulibaly, Bub Carrington, and Will Riley. Young played five games for Washington after the Atlanta trade last year; Davis did not play a game for the Wizards after arriving from Dallas. Sarr had June surgery for a right-foot fracture and is expected ready for the season (NBA.com).
Sport DMV is not projecting a win total or inventing rotation rankings. Camp and preseason will sort minutes — especially on the wing, which NBA.com flags as crowded (Dybantsa through Middleton).

Sport DMV read
Camp week is when Cap One starts to feel like basketball again — Dawkins on Thursday, open practice Oct. 1, then the long runway to Milwaukee on Oct. 21. Watch who actually shares the floor with Young and Davis in October; the preview’s crowded wing is the story locals will feel first.
