Late push, not enough
Spectrum Center got loud in the middle quarters and stayed that way. Brandon Miller poured in a career-high 39 as Charlotte beat Washington 110-103 on Monday night (AP). The Hornets are 3-1; the Wizards sit 2-2 after chasing a 3-1 start they have not owned since 2022-23.
Washington’s starters still put up volume. Anthony Davis finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds, Trae Young had 22, and Kyshawn George added 20. The Wizards cut a 98-84 deficit to 103-100 with 1:13 left after a five-threes flurry, then Miller answered with a jumper and a free throw to push it back to 106-100 (AP).
The injury board got uglier early: forward Justin Champagnie left in the first quarter with a right foot injury and did not return. A.J. Dybantsa (No. 1 overall pick) remains out with a sprained left ankle. Charlotte was already without Coby White, Kon Knueppel, and Grant Williams.
Next: at Cleveland on Wednesday, 7 p.m. ET at Rocket Arena — DMV window on MNMT (confirm blackouts). Flush the late-game collapse tape and keep Davis’s paint touch against a Cavs front that just survived OT at home.
