Mystics host Dream in Game 2 — Wednesday 7 p.m. on ESPN

Game 2 — Dream at Mystics

The Washington Mystics host the Atlanta Dream in Game 2 of the first-round series on Wednesday, Sep. 30.

ESPN lists tip at 7:00 p.m. ET at CareFirst Arena on ESPN. Atlanta leads 1-0 after Sunday’s 92-77 win in Atlanta. That is a must-respond home night in a best-of-three — lose again and the season ends before October’s Game 3 window matters.

Sunday’s tape is already clear: Washington led after one and at half before Atlanta’s 29-12 third. Sonia Citron scored 25; Shakira Austin had 16 boards (Game 1 recap). CareFirst’s job is to flip that middle frame and keep the series alive for a possible return trip south.

If necessary

Game 3 is listed TBD back in Atlanta if the series reaches a deciding game — confirm on the club board.

A franchise-best regular season means nothing if the first-round series ends 0-2 at home. The crowd at CareFirst has to meet a Mystics team that protects the paint after half and stops the Dream’s third-quarter surge before it starts.

Sport DMV read

CareFirst on ESPN is the Mystics’ chance to force a Game 3 — the third quarter has to look nothing like Atlanta. Watch Citron’s shot diet and Austin’s glass work early; a home split is the only acceptable DMV headline leaving Wednesday night.
