The Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals 9-0 on Wednesday, Sep. 2 at Nationals Park, splitting the two-game set after Tuesday’s Morales debut win.

Ronald Acuña Jr. hit a three-run homer in the seventh — his 14th of the year — and became the fastest player in major-league history to reach 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases (904 games). The previous mark was Alfonso Soriano at 929 games — set in August 2006 while playing for the Nationals against the Braves. Sean Murphy’s three-run shot in the sixth (third homer in five games) broke a scoreless game after a 1-hour, 25-minute rain delay in the fourth. Atlanta piled on in the eighth and ninth. Elieser Hernández (2-0) got the win in relief; Robert Cornelio (2-2) took the loss. Washington finished with two hits and is 67-75. Atlanta is 83-57.
